Summatime Fun...

I've lost my battery charger for my camera. I like to think that is the reason why I've been slow to post this summer. Or, maybe I've just been lazy!

Last weekend was a family fun fest for me. I went and hung out with the padres and sobrinos on the Hood Canal. For some reason, my parents are into RV'ing now. It strikes me as very odd! Who would have guessed that they would love RV'ing? It was HOT and fun.

A couple of weekends before that, the Crew went to the KWJZ Jazz Fest. The weather was not blazing, so it made the long day even more enjoyable. Most of us enjoyed the tunes, while the others slept. Friends, food, wine and jazz. It was relaxing and fun as usual.

PHOTOS:

Eating. An all day fiesta.

I think this is Ray Parker Jr. He would not play "Ghostbusters" or "A Woman Needs Love", and we were pissed!

The Hat. So when Scotty turned 40, I told him he HAD to get one of those 'ol school playa hats. It was a must! Of course, he rocks it well. The other mens had to try it on to see how they will be rockin' it in a couple of years. The 4-0 is just around the corner!

Siesta...Hello Kitty-style! The spit bubble was on and poppin' ALL DAY. The man can sleep. But we felt like it was well deserved!

Rai at the end of the day. Classic! Ahh...wines.

A quick re-cap

Lo siento. I have not been posting, and lots has been happening! Here's a quick re-cap of the last month or so...

Ah...The Charlie turned 16! I can't believe the first baby is a young man now! Here he is posin' with his Poppi and Mimi. As you can see, they are all TAN and just back from Mexico. The other pic is of my Nani and my Pupu! So cute.

Below are some pics from Fourth of July. It was Rai's birthday, and we all went out to the coast to celebrate and chill. Feliz Cumpleanos Rai Rai! You'll always be 25 to me.

I couldn't resist. Nate and a booty shot. It had to be taken. And the Pupu...so cute on the beach!

Look at the muffins. Of course, they were both angels that day!

Felicidades Erin and Omar. After many years, they finally tied the knot! Yeah!! It was a beautiful day.

My "staycation" vs. My family's vacation in Mexico

Last weekend I had a pleasant "staycation" in Tacoma with the Pupu and our new friend Jorge. We thought about my family's real vacation in Puerto Vallarta...and cried! I'm dying for a vacation. Not this dumb staycation idea! I need tropical. I need sun. I need to be half-clothed, covered in sea salt and tanning lotion!

Whoever came up with this notion of a "staycation" is smokin' some Acapulco gold!

Rico Jorge

It has been confirmed. George...Jorge...mi hermana's Jack Russell is Mexican. He is reeking of machismo!

He stepped onto the scene yesterday morning at 8:30 am. As soon as he rolled up, all the dogs in the neighborhood went wild. And Jorge just stood there. He stood tall, surveyed the yard and started sniffing. He didn't bark or back down from the huge Husky on the other side of the fence. Later that afternoon, the Pupu and I took him for a walk around the lake, and he pee'd 6 times, in 6 different areas, staking his "claim" at the lake. It was hilarious! Everytime the Pupu kisses or hugs on me, Jorge is RIGHT there, all up in it trying to block. And, he LOVES his siestas! But who doesn't!

The President, VP and Sec. of State.

My family is going on vacation...without me. Papi, mami, mi hermana and her man and babies are all going to Puerto Vallarta. Of course, they are staying at the Grand Mayan, and I'm sad! Why didn't I go? Many reasons. Work and my lovely mortgage to name a few. When they all leave the country I feel like the president, vice president and seceratary of state are gone! My responsibilites in their absence has grown this year. I will be taking care of the hyper, crazy, rock-eating George! George is a Jack Russell, and has me nervous already! He's my sister's 4th baby. She loves him so. The Pupu is sooooooo excited to chill with George. I hope he doesn't want to get a dog after George's visit it over!

10 way to know you're Latina

You may have seen this before, and maybe it's only funny to me! But I found "10 way to know you are Latina". I bolded my favs, and added some personal comments in purple:

  1. If you can't fight the urge to clap on a plane that has just landed! (Hilarious! But true.)
  2. If your boyfriend plucks, waxes or in any other way grooms his eyebrows even more than you do, then you are most likely a Latina...dating a Latino! (No! Sorry, the Pupu is a Caribbean man! Hey Mon!!).
  3. If even though you're fluent in English, you still refer to going grocery shopping as a compra.
  4. If you have ever committed the cardinal sin and fashion faux pas of wearing socks with sandals! (This one doesn't apply to me, but does to my Abuelito).
  5. If something immensely sad or something immensely adorable both elicit the exact same response of "Hay Bendito!".
  6. If your grandmother's chancletas seemed to have some mystical boomerang powers, you know, she threw it at you and somehow it was magically back in her hand before you could even look up from your hiding place, then you are definitely Latina!
  7. If Vick's VaporRub was pronounced Bibaporú and used by everyone in your family to cure anything from burns to acne to La Gripa to infertility. (LOVE THIS! It's the Latino cure-all).
  8. If you have ever sat down on a couch and then immediately fallen off because of the slippery smooth surface created by the plastic covering the entire living room set...Latina all the way baby! (Thank God Louise NEVER adopted this trait! She's way too stylish for that!).
  9. If you grew up with a mother and/or grandmother who made you eat a ton of their food to prove how much you loved them, and then called you gordita five minutes later while pinching your chichos! (I know it TOO well!)
  10. If you are completely fed up with being called, fiery, spicy, caliente or any other adjective that could also describe a chili pepper, you are absolutely, positively, undeniably Latina. (Not "fed up", but it is getting old. At least they are good things to be!).

Chilosa!

Prima J. My new fav's! They came up with "Chilosa". Which they say means, "A sassy and feisty girl who’s independent with a little spice. She’s the fun and fearless girl next door with lots of spirit who has a deep sense of inner self confidence."

Ok, so I'm indulging my inner teenager when I listen to them, but I don't care! They are too cute and I really do like their tunes. If you click here, you can see their videos and indulge your inner teenager too!
