¡Más despacio por favor!

My brain could not keep up with all the Spanish that was coming at me last weekend! So many Mexi's in a room, equals tons of Spanish being spoken. The familia would look at me and just start speaking. Yes, I understand it, but they speak it SO fast. And please...for me to conjugate and speak it back. Comedy! I tried. I think my head was just too hot from that 100+ temperatures we had to endure.

FIESTA WEEKEND PHOTO GALLERY

Here's the whole reason we went down to California. My 90 year old Abuelita's birthday. Her 88 year old sister made the trek from Mexicali just for the occasion. They hadn't seen each other in 40 years! That's crazy. I would die if I hadn't seen my sister in that long! It was very touching and there wasn't a dry eye in the crowd when they saw each other.

That's my Abuelito working the room. That's my Abuelita's brother's daughter he's talking to.

My coffee bean! Mi Hermana is ADDICTED to coffee...Starbucks to be exact! So the dress is fitting for her! The dude in the background was super funky. I'm sure he's a cousin, but I just thought of him as a roadie with the band! He used the word "man" a lot, and was straight out of a Cheech and Chong movie. I loved him.

And this guy! The one holding the chili. The vato was related, but I didn't really mix with him. He was suspect for many reasons. First, he played the cowbell with the band (his dad was the lead singer, and my Abuelita's nephew). Second, he NEVER took those shades off. What you hiding under there? My poor bro-in-law Greg and cousin-in-law Charlie! I made them stand next to him so I could get the shot!

Ahhh...my love, my Aunt. I wish she lived up here! I love her so. And my pregg cousin Becky (she's married to Charlie above). I wish I could see both of them more often. They are the fabulous ones on my Dad's side of the family.

The band! All related somehow, yet I've never met them before. "Give me more COWBELL!"

Chata, Elaina and mi Hermana. Muy hermosas.

Señor Cheech and Chong and Lou! I made her stand with him to get the pic. It was a must!

Dad and Elaina (she is: my Aubelita's niece, Dad's prima, my second prima).

Primas Chata and Elaina. These two can COOK! They were making homemade tortillas that were to DIE FOR! Elaina named off about 10 food dishes she said she'd make when I come to Calexico to visit her. My mouth started watering while she talked about it! She only spoke Spanish, so I was panicked that I'd miss a food description! I don't even want to say what the ingredients in the tortillas are. It's so bad for you. But they melted in your mouth!
